The AIA Committee on the Environment has announced its Top Ten award winners for 2020. I had the opportunity to see the John W. Olver Design Building last summer during the BTES biennial conference, which was hosted at the building by the University of Massachusetts Amherst. My father and I toured the Marine Education Center in 2018—it is located in my hometown, Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

What I like best about the AIA COTE Top Ten is the inclusion of Energy Usage Intensity (EUI) data, which I believe is the best measure of a building’s overall energy performance.
