Some Architects Declare…that saving the planet is not worth it if we can’t practice like it’s 1960

It was inevitable that a pronouncement as profoundly inventive and courageous as Architects Declare would lose signees who were more concerned with Green Wash than Green design.

Both Foster + Partners and Zaha Hadid Architects have opted out of Architects Declare because of the Architects Declare ban on designing new airports—a ban aimed at curbing the expansion of air travel, which is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions.

When they signed on to Architects Declare, perhaps these firms were thinking that sustainable living was for the little people, while the jet set keep on keeping on….
