Some good news about the environment—but every silver lining has a touch of grey

Martin Pederson of Common \ Edge recently interviewed Edward Mazria, who discussed how energy usage in the building sector has been declining, despite an increase in built square footage and GDP (and population).

While this is good news, it would be better yet if

  1. We imagined a future not built on endless growth
  2. We used a better barometer of economic health than GDP
